Facility Access and Operations

Public Health Officials have indicated that the use of outdoor facilities are generally safer as there is greater ventilation and ability to physically distance. This does not limit indoor sports from restarting but it does increase the risk factor and therefore adds further considerations related to facility operations.

  • Sessions will be subjected to the lesser of the facility capacity limit or 50 people (in accordance with BC’s Phase 3 Restart plan) which includes participants, LR’s and Activity Leads.
  • Care must be taken to avoid access “choke” points which run counter to physical distancing. In cases where multiple gates may be used to access the playing area, separate entry and exit points should be communicated to participants. When possible, gates should be held in an open position to reduce touch points by participants.
  • For each session, participants must pre-register their attendance and pay online when possible. This registration information will be kept by PentaSport use during future contract tracing (if needed). See Appendix A for a sample of information that will be collected.
  • Participants are to arrive no earlier than 5 minutes in advance to reduce crowding.
  • Participants will be instructed to leave immediately after the end of the event to minimize contact and allow time for proper sanitization between sessions.
  • Care will be taken by LRs to clean all communal surfaces and equipment, when possible, to reduce the amount of touch points.
  • Staggered start times will be implemented if running multiple sessions at the same facility to allow for adequate time for exit and sanitization between sessions.
